22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
If you’ve been paying attention – and no one will let you not pay attention – don’t these verses sound really topical? 20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? In this next verse, think political parties instead of Jew and Greek: 22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:.
I promised myself this would not be a political blog and I’m not making it one now; my point is no one on the political spectrum is happy and God is making it so, I believe, so that we really check our own foundations and morals and beliefs and move forward in a positive way against this wave of negative stuff coming at us all the time. The old chestnut is right: If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything. I stand for Jesus and Christianity and I won’t fall for anything less.
