2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;
4 Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.
7 So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.
I can’t help but wonder what St. Paul would say about us, here in the 21st century. Do you suppose it would be “8 For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.” Or do you suppose we are in the words of Jesus in Revelation 3: 15-16:”15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.“
If the Gospel is the Good News, why aren’t we shouting it from the roof tops? Bull horns on the corners of our neighborhoods? That’s what you do with good news – you share it far and wide. It’s our Great Commission, isn’t it? “16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. 17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matt 28)
