And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
Today’s verses remind me of these verses:
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. (Matt 7)
Among the many good things in the Bible, I like how we often get a concept explained in more than one way. You may relate to me your way of doing something and it can go right over my head; however another friend will describe doing the same thing but in words or manner I grasp completely. This is one of the things the Bible does so well so that all who read it can understand it. What a blessing!
