And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?
And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.
And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.
But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter.
And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.
Verse 15 is a challenge for adults. We do not so easily trust and believe like little children do. As we mature, we learn through every day examples and surprises and hurts to be wary, to take nothing at face value, to research thoroughly. It’s very hard for ‘grown ups’ to trust. Yet that is what we’re called to do. The point is, in Jesus, we have nothing to be wary of, there is no darkness in Him, He is exactly as He has said He is. For those reasons and a million more, we can safely and completely trust and believe with the whole-hearted simplicity and innocence of a small child. All questions and fears are answered by Him, in Him, and through Him.
