I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

We look down that long tunnel to ‘long ago’ and focus the flashlight into the future and what do we see? The tunnel is filled with missed opportunities and the future is empty. What we need to deal with is today; how will we adorn ourselves in good works today?

It might be fun (and informative) to make a list of good things to do that gives us no discernible ‘reward’, but that furthers the kingdom here on earth. What ‘good works’ could we perform today? Every journey begins with a single step …
