Hebrews 10: 35 – 39

September 11, 2022

35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.

36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.

38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

This is the 13th Sunday after Trinity and of the three selections of verses, this selection spoke to me this morning.

Drawing back; you can see it in your mind’s eye, can’t you? Like someone offers you something that a first glance looks good but when you get closer to it, something isn’t right and so you draw back.

No matter our challenges, no matter our fears, we don’t draw back. God is working His plan. We are much more to Him than sparrows. He revealed Himself to us at the very beginning of everything and then, ‘in the fullness of time’, gave us Jesus, our very salvation, Who then, from the Father and the Son, gave us the Holy Spirit to be our Comforter and Teacher. We have nothing to draw back from as what we have is Perfection.
